AIDS, which used to be called the "plague of the 20th century", remains one of the most dangerous and poorly studied diseases in the XXI century. That is, they study it a lot, but reliable facts about this disease are still not enough. One of the most mysterious topics is actually the origin of the disease.
Some researchers suggest that people received HIV "as a gift" from our smaller brothers, the chimpanzee. Others believe that the disease was artificially created in secret laboratories, while others completely deny the existence of AIDS. Here are some of the most popular theories of the origin of this disease.
Errors in the development of medicine
It is believed that AIDS was first discovered in 1981 in the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (USA). Then, about 30 men with similar symptoms were examined. All, as one, were homosexuals, because of what the new disease was soon dubbed "gay-related immunodeficiency."
A couple of years, a new disease was diagnosed in Europe. It was not just gay men, but also women, as well as elderly people who had long forgotten about active sexual life. This gave impetus for further study of the disease and the isolation of the retro virus of HIV, which is transmitted through the blood, and not only through sexual contacts.
Simultaneously with a close study of the unknown origin of the disease with catastrophic speed began to grow and the number of infected it. Then the doctors began to think about where it could come from.
Monkeys - carriers of HIV
All subsequent years, scientists carefully looked for sources of infection. It was found that a retro virus, similar to human HIV, is found in some gorillas and chimps of West Africa. Presumably, the first transmission of the virus occurred in 1926-1930. The first deaths from AIDS were recorded later, in the 60s of the XX century.
The fact that African residents could somehow contact with monkeys was understandable. But where did this virus come from in the blood of Europeans and Americans, many of whom were rarely in zoos, for a long time remained a mystery. The situation was cleared up when a link was found between the spread of HIV and the experiments on transplanting monkey glands popular in the early 20th century.
A number of scientists (among them a French surgeon with Russian roots, SA Voronov) in the 20s and 30s practiced surgery to transplant the testicles and the thyroid gland of chimpanzees to people. Such experiments were very popular at that time. They had the goal of general rejuvenation of the body, and the restoration of sexual function in men suffering from impotence. These experiments and could become the cause of the spread of AIDS in developed countries.
AIDS - artificially created biological weapons
According to another theory, HIV was created artificially in order to destroy a significant number of the world's population. The reason for this view was the fact that the human retro virus of HIV is a modified (!) Version of the monkey immunodeficiency virus SIV.
To settle in the human body, the virus of chimpanzees and gorillas needed somehow to adapt to the new conditions, that is, mutate. Whether this could occur in the process of natural factors or a new mutation dangerous for man was created artificially, until it is not completely clear. On this theme, Dr. Alan Kantwell argues in his book "AIDS and the Doctor of Death."
He develops the following idea in the book: US scientists created a modified human immunodeficiency virus using genetic material from monkeys. A "new biological weapon" was created in the secret laboratories of the military department. They brought HIV to a person under the guise of vaccinations against hepatitis B. This theory has many followers, among them very respected people, even Nobel laureates.
AIDS does not exist
The view that AIDS does not exist at all is supported and actively advocated by the advocates of the AIDS / HIV Denial Movement (HIV dissidents). They argue that AIDS is a contrived disease. It covers the true causes of high mortality in disadvantaged regions and the poorest segments of the population, such as: hunger, lack of normal medical care, etc.
One of the reasons HIV-dissidents believe is that the typical clinical picture of AIDS is a complex of various diseases: pneumonia, Kaposi's sarcoma, subacute encephalitis, etc. Each of these diseases and individually provokes weakening of the body's defenses.
HIV dissidents also argue that HIV is a safe retro virus and, in general, its connection with a disease that is called AIDS is not proven undeniably. This idea is supported by Professor of Biology Peter Dyusberg, chemist, Nobel Prize winner Cary Mullis and several other scientists. Official medicine puts all their arguments into question, because these individuals are not specialists in virology. Disputes about the origin of AIDS meanwhile continue.
